October 2013 in Dresden. The whole city is plastered with advertising for a company by the name of Calzedonia. Adverts for the shopping mall “Altmarktgalerie”, too. It is not quite clear what is advertised because there isn’t any text on the posters, only “Calzedonia” and “Altmarktgalerie”. Maybe it’s an ad for Lolitas, or perhaps for eating disorders? Three motifs, all of them questionable, but one absolutely sexist. Virtually every bus and tram stop, every advertising pillar show these ads. Puke.
I learned later that it looked very similar in Berlin, presumably throughout Germany. For a while I was able to resist my reflex, but then I decided to do something. Continue reading
